Dominic Denny has over 25 year's experience in strategic artist management, brand development, marketing, pr communications, content rights & IP management as well as production for a range of music and entertainment projects, corporations and clients throughout the world. He began his professional life in publicity and communications where he was based in London and New York.
With experience both in-house and agency, Dom has worked on numerous international projects ranging from Formula 1 title sponsorship to providing bespoke senior counsel to many clients including, CBS Records, Saatchi & Saatchi, Mick Jagger, Joshua Payne (Verve/Universal) Amy Sky, Tina Turner, Olivia Newton-John, Mercedes-Benz, Alan Frew (Glass Tiger), adidas, AT&T, Sony/BMG, Warner Brothers, RCA Records, Arista, Capitol/EMI, France Telecom/Orange and Academy and Grammy award nominated songwriter Stephan Moccio, to name just a few. He was, until 2013, CEO of The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. In helming this bilingual, not for profit organization for 5 years, his focus was on leading strategy, building, creating and marketing the brand by moving it from producing a single, nationally broadcast TV & radio gala a year, to creating a range of properties that spoke to a wider ‘higher value’ audience. During his tenure, he executive produced TV & radio specials featuring the inductions of legendary Canadian songwriters, Robbie Robertson, Paul Anka and RUSH. Under his direction, the CSHF developed educational initiatives and events in partnership with the Toronto District School Board, he created unique and accessible music programming, like the 'If You Could Read My Mind' series, which brought together Canadian music legends from different generations, to discuss their craft. Shows featured pairings such as, Gordon Lightfoot & Gord Downie, as well as Ian Tyson & Jim Cuddy. These sold out events, were also broadcast on CBC radio across Canada.
Dom has always been involved in talent development whether as a consultant or personal manager. He has successfully helped guide the careers of amongst others, international hit songwriter, Juno Award winner and two time jazz vocalist of the year, Marc Jordan (hits written for Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Cher, Diana Ross etc) & songwriter and successful solo artist with Top 10 Billboard chart hits, Luke McMaster (hits written for Nick Lachey, Rhianna, Kalan Porter, Jim Brickman, Eva Avila etc). He has also executive produced several albums for major labels.
He currently manages Gemini nominee and Independent Songwriter of the Year, Theo Tams, whose new album'Call The Doctor', was released in September 2018.
His work has allowed him to travel extensively and apart from his homes, has spent periods in New York, Los Angeles and London where he studied law at the University of London and The University of Westminster.
Day to day...
An Irish/Canadian & UK citizen, Dom divides time between Toronto, Canada, Co. Kerry, in south west Ireland and the beautiful city of Bath, UK. He continues to provide ad hoc counsel to music projects and artists that capture his imagination and is currently developing a co-pro TV series in Canada and the UK. As well as these activities, he helps manage a trust set up to manage, maintain and increase awareness of the British abstract painter, Robyn Denny. In his spare time, Dom enjoys traveling the world with his husband, who is a microbiologist and serves as the pragmatic one in the relationship. He is interested in collecting art, mainly British abstract work from the 50's - 90's and has acquired a significant and important collection; while also enjoying his 3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (Jake, Molly & Paddy) and 4 busy Bantam chickens (Amelie, Pat, Lettie & Sandra).
